Looking for an adventure? Check out 5 of the world’s most exciting destinations.

Depending on what kind of traveller you are, especially if  its pure adventure and exhilaration that you are looking for, then these five destinations are some of the world’s most exciting.

Queenstown, New Zealand

If there’s anywhere perfectly suited to activities, it’s Queenstown. This small New Zealand city boasts heaps of fun, from white water rafting to bungee-jumping – it’s all here. In fact, Queenstown boasts one of the world’s highest bungee platforms in the form of Nevis Bungy.

It’s definitely a city perfectly suited to the bravest of travellers, those who are looking for white-knuckle adventure at every turn. Once you’re done for the day, head back into Queenstown’s centre to chow down on a Fergburger, often said to serve the best burgers in the world.

New York City, USA

You’ll have seen the wonder of New York City captured in countless films and TV programmes, but nothing compares to the real deal. In fact, visiting the Big Apple in real life will perhaps leave you overcome with just how much there is to see and do – from the landmarks such as the Empire State, to hidden districts in Brooklyn and the other surrounding boroughs, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring.

Be sure to visit the most popular landmarks while you’re here, as they don’t disappoint. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum is definitely a tough experience, but it’s recommended by the locals in order for you to see an authentic piece of history which shaped the culture of the city going forward, as echoed by the Daily News.

Rio

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

For a rather unique slice of adventure, head to Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro. The most recent host city for the Olympic Games, Rio de Janeiro is an incredibly vibrant, energetic and cultural city which will make for one of the most unique experiences you’ll likely ever have.

Head to Copacabana for a spirited, dynamic beach town, overlooked by Christ the Redeemer atop the adjacent Corcovado mountain. 1Cover highlights the city as one of the world’s best party towns, and it’s all down to the Carnival. Try and visit in February – the Carnival happens during the month, with tens of thousands of party-goers, dancers and parade members flocking to the streets and infusing Rio de Janeiro with an abundance of sounds, colours and festivities.

Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

It’s no secret that Japan’s capital city is arguably the most exciting in the world. Tokyo is bright, buzzing and exciting, its many districts all boasting something incredibly different from the next. Take Harajuku, for example – referenced in plenty of songs and movies – this is where all the cool kids come to play in boutique clothing stores and hipster cafes.

Be sure to explore one of Tokyo’s many sprawling gadget stores, too. Yamada-Denki LABI is perhaps the most exciting of them all, a multi-storey store with “hamster tube” escalators jutting from the side for an unusual illusion that almost dwarfs the people inside it.

Berlin

Berlin, Germany

Berlin is undeniably an underrated destination, both in relation to Europe and the entire world. It’s exciting, unpredictable and energetic throughout, often coming to life during the evenings through to the night where clubs welcome in hundreds of revellers throughout the year.

There’s a unique underground scene here in Berlin, between the museums, the architecture and the coffee that the city has to offer. The entry requirements are sometimes strict, but be determined enough and you could be in for the time of your life.

New Zealand is so high on our list for adventure travel indeed (maybe not Queenstown itself)! The scenery is incredible, probably the most beautiful country on earth, many believe so. Not too sure I’d put NYC for “an adventure” though haha. You are going quite urban for people looking for an adventure!

I absolutely love NYC,there’s always something interesting going on! New Zealand too is on my bucket list, thanks to all those movies, but I honestly don’t know if I’d ever have the guts to try a bungy jump there. Or anywhere else 😀

New Zealand, japan and Rio are very high on our buck-list. They sure are adventurous and beautiful destinations.NYC is an awesome place, not quite adventurous as in adventure sport way but definitely adventurous in other ways like food, fashion etc. I would totally add Slovenia to this list though.

I am a huge adventure enthusiast and feel embarrassed to know that I haven’t been to any of these places yet. I would totally love to attend the Olympics at Rio. I am late to attend the Carnival though. New Zealand’s Nevis Bungy sounds fun and I can definitely do that. Thanks for sharing this.

Well I must admit I was pleased to see Queenstown heading this list! We’ve just bought some property there and are building our future home there! So it’s definitely one of my favourite places in the world. And I can totally vouch for Fergburger! Also Tokyo – if we could live anywhere else (outside of NZ) then we would choose Tokyo for sure. Such a fun, vibrant city that makes sense.

I was going to ask that you rewrite this list not until I saw Japan. All the countries you mentioned in this post are dope. I love Queenstown seems to be my favourite on the list for the bungee jump. But Tokyo is still the love of my life. I know you feel the same way about Tokyo. Winks
